Orlando Pirates provide injury update on midfielders, Sihle Nduli and Selaelo Rasebotja

Orlando Pirates have provided an injury update on two midfielders, Sihle Nduli and Selaelo Rasebotja, ahead of the crucial Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu FC.

The Sea Robbers are set to visit AmaZulu in a league match at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday night, aiming to collect maximum points and open a three-point gap on Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates are fresh from claiming a convincing 2-0 victory over Magesi FC this past weekend at the Orlando Amstel Arena with goals from Yanela Mbuthuma and Relebohile Mofokeng.

The win against the Limpopo-based side saw Pirates move to second place in the league table, level on 33 points with table toppers Sundowns, who have won the title for the past eight seasons.

In the next few weeks, the Soweto giants will have fixtures coming thick and fast as they look to compete for the league and Nedbank Cup.

With the demanding schedule looming for Pirates, they have issued an update on Nduli and Rasebotja, revealing that the duo is still not available for selection as they are nursing their respective injuries.

SIHLE NDULI JOINED PIRATES IN THE OFF-SEASON

Nduli is one of the new players at Pirates after signing on a free transfer from Stellenbosch FC in July 2025. The talented defensive midfielder quickly established himself as a regular starter at Pirates before sustaining an injury just before the 2025 AFCON break.

The 30-year-old has featured in 17 appearances in all competitions, playing a major role in delivering the 2025 MTN and Carling Knockout Cup titles for Pirates.

Meanwhile, Rasebotja has been out with a long-term injury, which has kept him out of the first round of the 2025/26 season. ‘Iniesta’ is in his second season at Pirates after joining the club from SuperSport United in July 2024.

“With fixtures coming in thick and fast, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou could shuffle his pack on Tuesday, giving minutes to the likes of new signing Mpho Chabatsane, who appeared on the bench in the two previous matches, while midfielders Sihle Nduli and Selaelo Rasebotja continue to recover from their respective injuries,” Pirates said on their website.
