Mofokeng Thriving in Number 10 Role as Pirates Hit Top Form

Relebohile Mofokeng has embraced his new role as a central playmaker at Orlando Pirates, saying it gives him greater freedom to influence games. The 21-year-old starred in Pirates’ 2–0 Betway Premiership win over AmaZulu FC, scoring early and playing a key role in the late second goal, earning his second straight Man of the Match award.

Traditionally a winger, Mofokeng has flourished in the number 10 position, where he feels less restricted and better able to create chances. Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou backed the tactical switch, praising Mofokeng’s versatility and noting his increased goals and assists since moving centrally. With Pirates top of the table, the midfielder’s freedom in the playmaking role is proving crucial to their momentum.
