Lyle Foster Hits Back at Critics, Reaffirms Love for Bafana Bafana

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster has responded to critics who questioned his dedication to the national team. The 25-year-old Burnley forward, a key figure in Hugo Broos’ squad that secured both AFCON and World Cup qualification, came under fire for missing chances against Zimbabwe before sitting out the final qualifier against Rwanda through injury.

Speaking to iDiski Times, Foster admitted he saw the backlash but insisted he remains proud to represent his country. Quoting Theodore Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena,” he said critics don’t define him — players do, by daring to risk failure in pursuit of success.

“If you question my commitment, that’s on you,” Foster said. “I love being here with my country. I could’ve gone home, but I chose to stay with the boys. It’s God’s will for me to be here.”

He added that teammates like Ronwen Williams have long inspired him and that no amount of criticism will shake his passion for Bafana Bafana.
