Chiefs Boost as TS Galaxy Reject Sundowns Bid for Puso Dithejane

TS Galaxy Reject Sundowns Offer Amid Chiefs Interest in Dithejane

TS Galaxy FC have knocked back an approach from Mamelodi Sundowns for highly-rated 21-year-old attacker Puso Dithejane, a decision that could tilt the transfer race in favour of Kaizer Chiefs.

According to SABC Sport, Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has rejected Sundowns’ bid, citing the club’s current inability to recruit a replacement due to a FIFA-imposed registration ban. With reinforcements off the table, Galaxy are unwilling to weaken their squad midway through the season—especially for a fee they deem below market value.

Sundowns have been aggressive in the January window, already unveiling Monnapule Saleng and Colombian striker Brayan León as they prepare for a demanding second half of the campaign. Dithejane had emerged as a priority target to bolster attacking depth, following an impressive run of form that has seen him collect multiple Player of the Month awards.

The winger’s output—four goals and four assists from just 12 league appearances—has only intensified interest. However, sources indicate that Sundowns’ offer fell short of Galaxy’s expectations, particularly in light of reports suggesting the Tshwane giants recently spent around R57 million to land León from Independiente Medellín. That contrast has hardened Galaxy’s stance.

While Sukazi has previously shown openness to selling to domestic rivals as part of Galaxy’s sustainability model, the registration ban has proven decisive this time. Internally, Dithejane is viewed as the club’s most valuable asset at this stage of the season.

Sundowns do retain a working relationship with Galaxy, having already agreed a deal for defender Khulumani Ndamane to move to Chloorkop this month following an earlier arrangement. But any renewed push for Dithejane will require a significantly improved proposal.

Chiefs Advantage?
Galaxy’s refusal to sell to Sundowns could hand Kaizer Chiefs a timely boost. Dithejane is a product of the Chiefs system and remains on their radar, but Galaxy’s firm valuation also serves as a warning: prising the winger away will not be cheap or straightforward.

With both giants circling and Galaxy standing their ground, the Dithejane saga is shaping up to be one of the window’s defining tussles.
