Bafana Bafana strike late to force a 2-all draw against Uganda

South Africa’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign began with a dramatic finish as Bafana Bafana secured a 2-2 draw against Uganda at Orlando Stadium.

Lyle Foster opened the scoring in the 14th minute, giving South Africa an early lead. However, Uganda turned the game around early in the second half, scoring twice in quick succession to go 2-1 up.

Just when defeat seemed certain, Thalente Mbatha struck in the fifth minute of added time to rescue a point for Bafana.

South Africa’s next match is away to South Sudan on Tuesday.
