Asanele Velebayi has opened up about the difficult wait he endured before finally completing his move to Kaizer Chiefs, following legal issues that delayed his transfer from Cape Town Spurs.
The 23-year-old spent more than two months waiting for a SAFA arbitration ruling before making his Amakhosi debut in November. Velebayi said the period was mentally and emotionally draining but credited himself for staying focused, keeping fit and believing the move would eventually go through.
Now settled at Naturena, the winger says joining Chiefs — a club he has always dreamed of representing — has brought major changes both on and off the pitch. He added that the pressure and lifestyle that come with playing for a big club have helped him mature, sharpen his focus and embrace the sacrifices required at the highest level.
