The move has now been officially confirmed, with Sekhukhune United welcoming Lebogang Phiri as their newest signing on the club’s official Twitter (X) page.
The announcement brings an end to months of speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future, marking his long-awaited return to South African football after more than a decade playing abroad. Phiri joins Babina Noko following a successful assessment period with the squad, during which the technical team were satisfied with his condition and readiness to compete.
His arrival comes in the wake of midfield changes at the club and follows earlier, unsuccessful talks with Kaizer Chiefs. Sekhukhune United have now moved decisively, securing the experienced midfielder as they strengthen their squad for the second half of the Betway Premiership season.
Phiri, who has previously earned six caps for Bafana Bafana, is set to make a rare Premier Soccer League debut despite having developed locally before building his career in Europe.
