Adidas returns to kit South Africa’s national football teams ahead of AFCON and World Cup

SAFA announces new technical partner for national teams

Just days after confirming the end of their sponsorship deal with Le Coq Sportif, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has unveiled Adidas as the new technical partner for all national teams.

The partnership with Le Coq Sportif, which began in 2020, will officially conclude in December. The upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco (December 2025–January 2026) will be the last major tournament in which Bafana Bafana and other national sides wear the French brand’s kits.

Adidas has signed a three-year agreement with SAFA that will see the German sportswear giant provide apparel and equipment for all men’s and women’s teams, including junior sides. The first official appearance in Adidas gear is set for the March 2026 FIFA international window.

This marks a reunion between SAFA and Adidas, who previously partnered when South Africa appeared at the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.

“This partnership is more than a sponsorship. It’s a return to shared values of pride, resilience, and performance,” said SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao. “Adidas has always been part of our football journey, and together we aim to inspire belief and excellence across the country.”

Monyepao added that the deal underscores South Africa’s growing presence on the global stage, with national teams at various levels now qualifying for major international tournaments.

Adidas returns at a time when South African football is experiencing renewed optimism — from Bafana Bafana’s World Cup qualification to strong performances from youth and women’s teams.
